Membership in Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War can be obtained through eligibility in several ways:

1. Women who are lineal or collateral descendants, of soldiers, sailors or marines regularly mustered and honorably discharged from the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps of the United States of America during the War of the Rebellion 1861-1865. Daughter, grand- daughter, great -grand-daughter, niece, great-niece, etc., & legally adopted daughters qualify.

2. Mothers, wives, widows, daughters & legally adopted daughters of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in good standing. (Not Associates)

3. Associate Memberships: Available to women who do not qualify through heredity, #1 & #2 above, who demonstrate a genuine interest in the Civil War and can subscribe to the purpose and objects of the Auxiliary. An Associate may vote and hold any office except that of National Vice-President and National President. Associates may not exceed one-third of the total membership of the Auxiliary at the time of election.

4. Junior Membership: For young ladies of not less than eight (8) years of age.

This information is provided by the Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War to acquaint you with our organization and to encourage you to express pride in your heritage by joining us in patriotic and charitable works. For women whose roots are deeply embedded in our nation's past, what better way to honor your ancestor and his sacrifices for our country? The Auxiliary also offers a unique opportunity to women interested in history who are not lineal descendants to join either as the wife of a Son or as an Associate.
